Went out to the field to build their shelter.
Requirement – Their entire group had to be able to fit inside.
3′ length of rope was handed out to all students. Both ends were tied off and end frays were melted using a lighter.
Student practice and demonstrated their Figure 8 knot
Students completed the following activities:
Wrapped up week 1 activities.
Introduced students to the first part of a two part demonstration on knots. Students work individually and in pairs. Students also finished their fire building exercise.
Students were given materials to ideate and create a water container that will carry two liter of water and be able to travel (walk) across the parking lot without spilling.
Students were given tools based on their resource cards, each team were then given the designated amount of supplies for the construction process.
Introduction of the Design Challenge – Survivor (Airplane Crash on a beach)
This is a multi-level innovation class where students from various background and diversity will learn how to create solutions to real world challenges. This course will develop student’s problem solving skills, technical skills, and creativity. Students will work in design teams and utilize everyone’s strength to complete the daily activity challenge. Prepare for loads of fun and hands-on building opportunities.
