Topics covered will vary from year to year. Students will engage in a variety of learning styles and strategies, but mostly it will be a ‘hands on’ course.
Topics include: development of jewellery creation as a skill and a source of income. Students will spend a majority of the class time in creating individual pieces of jewellery worthy to be considered ‘a work of art’. Special topics include: Jewellery making, trading, selling as an industry and business. Secondary focuses will include business management and operation of a jewellery store. This course can be used for fine arts and/or applied skills course credit toward graduation. At the completion of this course students should be able to produce small to medium pieces of jewellery pieces suitable for sale and trading.
There will be optional local and international field trips related to course content learning.
